Brock Lesnar vs HHH Summerslam 2012 – A Review

Posted by sssjvsss on August 26, 2012

My thoughts or review on the much anticipated and hyped Brock Lesnar vs HHH match at 25th anniversary of Summerslam(2012). I liked the idea that they went for some thing that’s more a fight than a wrestling match. The damage was done with out any chair shots or any high risk (high flying, I mean) moves which was really good for the business and the wrestlers. Who ever wanted to see a pure wrestling match or a match with a lot of “Holy Shit” moments were sure disappointed. I wanted to talk about some of the spots in the match, and how did I feel about them.

1) I liked the idea that Brock won. I really liked the idea that Brock dominated the match and won. This was particularly very important for Brock as he returned, after say 8 years , after so much of hype and lost his first match. It was essential for Brock to make a statement to the new wwe fans who were not watching UFC.

2) A complete domination with repeated and continuous attack targeting the injured arm of HHH through out the match(with all those slams on the arm) made it clear why Brock is still the most dangerous guy in WWE. He is rabid, he is focused and has a clear cut game plan; not to miss, he is huge, powerful, strong and quick. He likes to hurt people; he has won them all and does not worry just about winning but rather just want to hurt them. This makes up for the fact that he lost to Cena. Just justifies that he wanted to kick Cena’s ass, and he did… moral victory.

3) The spot where HHH throws Brock over the top rope (for the second time), and yelled “This is my House – W.W.E and not UFC) with Brock coming back, taking his gloves off, doing a MMA style take down on HHH, with a knock out punch on the back of his head that completely floored HHH and Brock yelling at him back “This is MY House” was awesome. It could have been better if Brock did a wrestling move there, like a belly to belly suplex, which would have meant, Brock was not just a MMA guy, but he could wrestle as well. But then, WWE was not too interested in projecting the wrestling skills of Brock as it looked like.

4) HHH going for the abdomen of Brock was pure gold. HHH is the cerebral assassin, and they had made sure his gimmick did not get killed. The shots looked legit and the entire spot were awesome especially because the it was followed by HHH’s finisher Pedigree. Not to miss Spine buster was awesome as always.

5) The commentary was a little pathetic. Especially on the spot where Brock hit his abdomen on the announce table and sold it big and Cole was silent. It looked like Brock went back to HHH and asked him to punch his stomach again and yelled loudly “Ahhh… My Stomach” as if reminding Cole to talk about Brock having Abdomen issues in the past. How we missed J.R !!!

6) There was this spot where Brock did a roll up on HHH. Dint get the meaning of it !!! Brock wanted to destroy HHH, not just win him… But thankfully though, there were no other roll up or meaningless pinfall attempts otherwise. Liked the idea, Brock the heel, did not ask the referee to count HHH out when he was outside; because he wanted to destroy HHH, not just win.

7) The spot where Brock tried to suplex HHH and HHH countering it with a suplex of his own is tough to digest but again the story line was not to project Brock as a wrestler.

8) Paul Heyman is a GREAT addition in the match. He brought in a great ring-presence and he made up for the poor commentary. Three spots where Heyman was great are
a) Brock hit his stomach and the reaction of Paul was like “Oh SHIT !!! your weakness is exposed”.
b) Brock going for the low blow and the referee was not sure to ring the bell or not, Paul yelling “He wanted the fight” is an amazing spot, a reminder to all about the pre-match stuff.
c) The end – When HHH hit the second pedigree, the reaction of Heyman in the back ground was amazing. It just gave you the feeling that even he felt it was over, thus reducing the chances of some one anticipating the Kimura Lock coming back.

9) “You tapped out” chant on a baby face was OKAY. The match had to project HHH as some one whose spirit was broken and the match and the chant did that.

10) Why the match was not a “No DQ, No Count Out” match ?! Because the contract was signed already and could not be changed ? :/ ? not sure…

11) Not too many suplexes or super-plexes, no shooting star press or high flying moves, no table crashing moments or chair shots, no Brock-Lock, no power bombs, no Brock’s spine busters, no belly-to-belly throws and just one spot with German Suplex – Something many Brock’s fan would be disappointed with. But the signature corner shoulder blocks were impressive and the Kimura Lock looked like a killer move there.

All said, the match had done what it was expected to do(by business but not necessarily by fans). Put over Brock as a dangerous entity and build the platform for Brock Lesnar vs Undertaker feud at Wrestlemania.

Survivor series 2010 spoiler:: Kane vs Edge

Posted by sssjvsss on October 31, 2010

Although not yet officially announced, Kane would be putting his world title on the line against Edge. The current storyline would call for an interference from the Undertaker during their match costing Kane, his world title. Edge would take over as the Smack Down world champ while Kane would continue his feud with the Undertaker in non-title matches.

Survivor Series – Will the Undertaker Return?

Posted by sssjvsss on October 31, 2010

This Survivor series, Survivor Series 2010 will be marking completion of twenty continuous years for Undertaker in WWE.  Two Decades of Destruction as they call it 🙂 . So it would be ironical, if he did not even show up on the show. But then, he was buried alive by Kane just recently only 🙂 . So how it all going to happen ?

Well, the way I see it, its going to be Kane vs Edge for World Heavy weight Title at Survivor Series, and Undertaker returns as American Bad Ass and Costs Kane his match and title. Edge would be the new champ and Kane and Undertaker as American Bad ass would continue their feud. Looks perfectly fine to me.

Lets see what Vince has in store for the Deadman

Whats Going on with this Jack Swagger stuff ?

Posted by sssjvsss on April 13, 2010

Well, its getting interesting every week.. First this guy got an enormous push, quiet deserved one though, during his ECW debut and all the critics went crazy about how WWE’s good time has come. But when his push went one step ahead and when Vince put him over Christian, they all started to say he is over-rated :-(.

He got drafted to RAW and won a few squash matches over Evan Bourne getting more and more heat from the internet critics. Then all of a sudden, got lost 😦 . Feuded and jobbed to Chavo and Santino (two guys who are pretty talented but are treated like jokers), and every thought he is gone for good. I did not even think about him when making MITB, nor would have any one . He was expected to be there just to fill the number and when the match was happening, till the end he never looked strong.

When he was up, no one bother to pop, pretty simple they thought, this guy is not going to win. To every one’s surprise, he did unhook the contract and just in a couple of days (5 days for tv viewers) he became WORLD CHAMPION.

So every one started hating him !!! Why !! when a guy is put high, we criticizing wwe for doing but when they do, we say its tooooo early… Sheamus and Jack deserved and got what they are given.

I love his gimmick, and I love all the confusions happening right now.. First the segment between Chris, Edge and Jack , and now, tomorrow Chris and Edge gonna fight for #1 contender but today there is an announcement that Randy is the man!!!

So, against whom Jack gonna put his title ?
After a long time, WWE is proving my predictions wrong with this jack Swagger storyline and I am loving it 🙂

Good Luck Swagger.. Hope u turn out to be the JBL of this era.

Bragging Rights 2009 Preview and Prediction SPOILER results

Posted by sssjvsss on October 21, 2009

Main Event :

Team RAW : Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Big Show, Mark Henry, Kofi Kingston, Jack Swagger & Cody Rhodes

vs.

Chris Jericho, Kane, Matt Hardy, Finlay, R-Truth, David Hart Smith & Tyson Kidd.

I give this one completely to team RAW (DX) . Later Vince would shout at Teddy for SD’s Loss..

Undertaker vs Punk vs Batista vs Rey Mysterio for World heavy Weight Title

Despite all the spoilers for Batista to take this, I still have a gut feeling that Undertaker WILL save the title, he wont lose it that soon. He is destined to go to survivor series as a CHAMPION for sure.

Cena vs Orton for WWE World Title 60 Minute No Disqualification Iron Man Match

Absolutely no idea whats going on and neither interested as well.. Some how, I feel Cena would win this…

Miz vs Morrison

Wow.. easily the match of the night.. I give this MIZ.. no sense by making Morrison win this one..

Breaking Point 2009 Preview : John Cena vs Randy Orton

Posted by sssjvsss on September 11, 2009

Hey, this one is for John Cena … The day John Cena quits a match, the entire superman era is over… That must be a heel turn for him to be more clear.. The character Cena is built such that he would he never quit, never back up from any challenge… So John Cena would take this one. Also, Man, Orton sucks to the core, and this may be the begining of the end of Legacy.. Hope they would broke soon with Ted Di Biase turning face, then Cody also doing the same..

But all i ask wwe, to make Orton fight. I mean, it should be like, Orton was never ready to quit, but then Cena got to do hell to make him loose.. A proper finish would be that Orton gets beaten so badly and goes unconsious and the refree stops the match… Makes sense so that Orton can ask for his rematch any way.

Breaking Point 2009 Preview : Undertaker vs C M Punk

Posted by sssjvsss on September 11, 2009

I just give it to the deadman… I just see something like CM PUnk vs Samoa Joe kinda feud where Punk finds it impossible to beat the phenom and tries again and again.. And yeah, its Montrel, may be, may be, HBK involvement is possible… But then HBK is currently busy with legacy so i think it may not be possible…

But then  It would be amazing to see Undertaker having the title.. He can feud Punk, Jericho, Show and even Ziggler if they wanna put him up.. But then if its Punk he does not have much guys left, may be only Morrison, but then now that he is IC champ takes him out of equation…Good lord, SD is out of main event talents…

ok, here is my choice : Undertaker..

Undertaker returns — Summerslam 2009 — A look

Posted by sssjvsss on August 27, 2009

Lets get to the point striaght. Smackdown has been giving some amazing matches in the recent times, thanks to John Morrison, Selton, Punk, Ziggler, Rey, Jeff and Jericho… But it still lacks that ONE BIG NAME to run the main event, and the return of the Undertaker is the most desperately wanted thing for the show.

Now just look at C M Punk, he is playing an amazing heel/tweener role here … I mean, he gets all the heat but justifies his stand. Unlike his first champion reign, he could cut some interesting promos this time and give some good matches with Jeff. He just got himself into the position of next big thing of Smackdown so quickly and all he needs now is a feud with Undertaker.

With the above two things said, its kind of so obvious that Undertaker should return and feud with CM Punk. But, now the return of Undertaker leaves us with a couple of questions
1) Is Undertaker character beating C M Punk after such a brutal match with Jeff, that too in ambushed way like that, justified ?

2) Is the question,’ why Undertaker chose Punk ‘ justified ?

Question 1-
I would say, it was fair. I mean the crowd had treated Undertaker as a big face through out his career, but the way they show im was always as a tweener. For instance, if there is a group of face and heels , he comes and beats down all of them, unlike typical Faces who teams up with the other faces to beat down the other heels. He never bothers about his name and been some one who takes immense pleasure in beating down the other guy. So if Undertaker has decided Punk is his next target, then he has no hesitation in doing so.

Question 2-
Why Punk ? What did Punk do wrong ?
ok lets analyse some of the possible reasons…

1) Is Undertaker after the world title ?

Ok, if its so, then What Undertaker should have done is, playing some mind games, a stare down, a throat cross signal… what more ?? He does not believe in weakening his opponents before the match.

2) Is the fact that he also lost his title via Money in the bank some time back is STILL Hurting ?

When he lost the title, his first target was Mark Henry and not Edge.. If u watch clearly, you can find that his attention went to Edge only after his interference at Survivor Series match. He does not think so bad that Punk used his OPPORTUNITY, after all that he did earn it with a fight.

3) Did Undertaker have enough of Punk ?
Hey, wait what did Punk do wrong ? He has some problem with the lifestyle of Jeff and putting it clearly, and he believed that for the same reason Jeff can never make it big … Is it wrong ? He is not having any problems with the others in the show .. AND, more importantly, he won a match fair and clear , and the match is supposingly a match where Jeff has the advantage 😉

Now, the very fact that showing Undertaker and making him chokeslam would make the crowd happier has gone to the level that WWE creative team killed the character of Undertaker 😦
